Philodina brevipes; whirling, dorsoventral view. The focus plane is on the upper lip which has a notch (triangle). P. plena is an eyeless species.
Philodina brevipes; whirling, dorsoventral view. Head region.

Philodina brevipes; same specimen as above, whirling, dorsal view. The focus plane is on the rostrum.
Philodina brevipes; rostrum lamella with many long cilia.
Philodina brevipes; two aspects of the foot with spores and 4 toes, recognizable in the left image.
This species is difficult to identify. I do not know any other species of Philodina which has such long cilia at the rostrum. The upper lip correspods to the descriptions of Murray 1906. No eyespots could be observed in this single specimen.
