Cephalodella ventripes; virgate trophi, dorsoventral view, trophi type A. (4)

Cephalodella ventripes, lateral view. A species with a cerebral eyespot ,the dorsal lorica may protrude beyond the ventrally orientated foot. The mouth has some "tweezer"-like structures for picking up small alge (arrowheads).
Cephalodella ventripes, dorsal view, between some diatoms. The cerebral eyespot is a transversal line. The groove between the plates is clearly visible on the distal part of the lorica in this focal plane.
Cephalodella ventripes, trophi Type A in lateral view.
Cephalodella ventripes, another specimen from (2), lateral view.
Cephalodella ventripes, same specimen as above from (2), trophi type A.
